PhD in Arts and Arts Sciences

A PhD in Arts & Arts Sciences is open to all artists and designers holding degrees in higher education in the arts (long form Master’s programs, 120 credits) who have also chosen a finalité approfondie as part of their Master’s studies (30 credits).

It is organized by the University, in collaboration with an arts institution of higher education. It is followed by two “promoters,” one from the University and one who is an artist teaching within the art School, as well as an accompanying committee consisting of an equal number of university teachers and artists teaching in the student’s arts school (or designated by that institution). Doctoral research requires both theoretical and artistic components.

La Cambre is currently associated with the Free University of Brussels (ULB) and the University of Liège as part of a number of doctoral projects.
