Accessories (Master’s program only)

The Master’s degree in Accessories is for arts school graduates whose work is linked to design and object creation, and who wish to specialize in this new professional discipline.

The program involves developing original and innovative ideas, the establishment of a coherent plastic vocabulary, understanding and integrating the knowledge and constraints of the materials used and their implementation, conceptual mastery of the image and the ability to interact with related fields, including design and fashion, architecture, the performing arts and scenography/ set design.

Students work on producing shape and meaning, and dealing with working with important contemporary artistic and societal issues.

The program is not directed toward any one art form or specialized technical mastery (jewelry making, millinery), but it does encourage students to explore the potential of the materials with which they are working, and to assume any constraints implied in their use, in any given context, be it artistic, technical or production. Students are supported by the experience of their teachers, as well as that of the artisans, artists and designers who accompany them in their courses, as well as the diversity of the artistic, theoretical, technical and technological skills being taught at the School.

The first year of the Master’s program establishes the student’s research methodologically, conceptually, technically and plastically. It may include, per the student’s previous studies, a number of complementary classes, artistic or general, which will supplement his or her initial level of training.

A long internship, placed between the two years of the Master’s program, allows the student to immerse him- or herself in a chosen area of study, preparation for a personal project which will be the focus of the second half of his or her studies. The personal project, accompanied by a presentational dossier and staged or presented according to modalities established by each student, is presented to a jury consisting of professional designers and artists. The students also participate in a seminar in which education, information and practice are linked, focusing on their journey after they leave school.
